Weekly Weigh In - Losing My Baby Weight

source

I have been trying to decide whether or not I should get really personal with all of you. I started this blog, because I wanted to be able to encourage others throughout their weight loss journies. In the past, I have avoided letting you know how much I weigh, because I do not want that to discourage you. However, at this time, I am the one who needs encouragement and accountability.

When I lost weight the first time around I did not have any children. This allowed me to completely focus on myself and make the necessary changes to reach my goals. This time, I am a Mommy and life is no longer just about myself. It's been much harder than I expected just to get back on the weight loss wagon!

As a result, I have decided to write a weekly weigh in blog post, until I am back to my weight loss goal. These weekly posts will help me to make better choices, because I know that ultimately I will have to share it with all of you. I hope that these posts will also encourage the rest of you while you lose weight, because I want you all to know that you are not alone!

My weigh in day is on Saturday morning, so I will try to report to you over the weekend or the beginning of the next week.

Below are my "stats", which are incredibly hard to post for you, because I am ashamed of how much weight I gained while I was pregnant. However, I have fully disclosed them to you, because God has taught me that freedom is brought about in truth!

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." - Galatians 5:1

Don't be ashamed! I also struggle with my weight and have my entire life. It's honestly a daily battle. I just had a baby in May and still have 5-10 lbs to go and it just won't come off. Heads up and keep on going. One day at a time and get back on the wagon if you have a bad day. You did it once and I know you can do it again :)

You are so brave to post your weight on here. I know how hard it can be to tell people how much you weigh, I am in this with you, we have the same goals, and we are at the same weight right now. It's definitely hard to loss weight when you are a mommy and have so many other responsibilities, but together we can do it! I have been having a hard time lately staying motivated, but knowing I have someone so close to me going through the same this is very encourgaing! Love you Jen! We can do this!

Jennifer - DO NOT BE ASHAMED!
I have been on this roller coaster for 10 years and 1 month. I lost 52 pounds and then gained 48 back. Last year at this time, I had lost 44 of those 48. Now, I am back up to only having lost 23 of those 48. It is hard. And, I don't even have a pregnancy to blame. And pregnancy is a legitimate reason to have gained weight. You have no reason to be ashamed, so take your stand against this scheme of the devil's (Eph 6:11)
Over the past few months, I've had my blood pressure taken 3 times. The first time, it was high. I blamed it on the fact that I was scared to death at a new doctor. The second time, I was confused because I wasn't nervous at all. The 3rd time was Sunday - high again. I knew at that point that it wasn't a fluke. I remembered you. And your doctor's visit. And the fact that you lost your weight and got your BP down. So, I am now more motivated than ever before. So, you are such a blessing to other people. Don't let this get you down. Just look forward - not behind you. And remember that we are not guilty before God. He doesn't use guilt - He uses conviction. The devil uses guilt and shame.
Thank you for sharing what was difficult. And, I'll be praying for you!

Just remember, it took you 9 months to put on the weight. So allow yourself an appropriate amount of time to take it back off. Don't rush it. After my first child, I lost a ton of water weight within the first month and then it took me a good 9 months to lose the rest w/o being on a plan. (and I put on WAYYYYY more than I should have). Also realize that you may reach your goal(s) but the weight will be in different places! So, keep up the good work, enjoy your baby!

You're doing great! I think it is a smart idea to hold yourself accountable like this - and definitely not something to be ashamed of.

Girl, you did great! Beginning at 135 lbs I gained 40 pounds each time I got pregnant and lost it within a few months with WW type portion control a few floor exercises and an at home exercise bike I would ride during the baby's naptime. In her book, 19 Kids and Counting Mrs. Duggar says that she is a Lifetime WW member but while breastfeeding adds in extra points of PROTEIN (my DIL's midwife says PROTEIN is the biggest component of breastmilk)
Don't stress about it honey, you've done great for a long time now. All of those great habits and things you learned will be the tools to get you back to where you want to be but just not in one day's time!

You are beyond brave for opening up the Web to your weight!!! I am impressed and in awe.

I also hope to channel your determination and motivation. My twins will be 2 next month and I weigh *exactly* the same as I did at my 6-week post-delivery appointment. It is 40lbs higher than my weight watchers goal (which I made in 2007 & kept off until the babies were born).

I just can't find the motivation or time or excitment anymore.

Maybe I need to be brave and face the Web like you.... Have you thought about making a little group of others who need a bit more support? I'd join!

You can do it! Right after I had Owen I was 178(that was day i came home from the hospital). When he was 6 weeks I was 168. I have worked very hard over the last 5.5 months and now I weight 132. I have not weighed that since high school. I never lost the baby weight from Andrea or Jackson until now. The lowest I got after the first two was 155. You are a mommy now but you still have to take the time out to make sure you are healthy. With the kids I hardly get the time to go out to go running so I have mostly been doing work out dvds. I know you can do this! -Holly

You know what? Good for you!
I don't know you personally, but stumbled upon your blog about a month ago. Something about the way you write so honestly just speaks to me, so I enjoy reading your posts.
Losing weight is HARD. Everyone knows it, and that's why so many people don't even try. Heck, it took me about 10 years to try again. But I'm 11 weeks into my new WW journey, and I feel great! I still have a looong way to go, but I know I can do it! I appreciate the encouragement and feeling of camaraderie your blog provides. So, thanks! :)

You really inspire me. I found your website a few months ago and have been silently following it ever since. Your post today hit close to home for me. Back in 2009, I weighed 237 pounds! I decided enough was enough and lost 62 pounds down to 175 in 2010. Well, surprise in December 2012, I found out I was pregnant. It was completely unplanned and threw me for a loop to say the least. My husband and I had 2 children already and we thought we were done. I guess God had other plans! Braden is now 14 months old and such a blessing to our lives. Well with the pregancy, came the weight gain - coupled with some health issues along the way and I gained back the entire 62 pounds I had lost. I am now down to 219 but nowhere close to where I was. I have been battling alot of things and I am trying to come out of that and get back to taking care of myself. I will definitely keep you in my prayers! You can do it.

Don't feel ashamed. The amount you weigh shouldn't discourage anyone else. We all have our own battles to fight, and I think it's good to put everything out on the table. I had to do that a while ago on my blog just to put my weight loss into perspective for myself. Sometimes that's what we need. I wish you the best of luck!

You can do it, and my advice to you as a mother of 4 is you'd BETTER do it now. Not that it can't be done at any point, but I just posted on my blog that I QUIT. I never lost the weight after each kid. Now I am at 210.0 and I lost 21 lbs and gained 17 back. I am a yo-yo. I have absolutely no time to focus on myself. I try to make that happen, but it never lasts. :( I feel so down and ashamed and at this point in my life it just feels hopeless! I am a mess. So please, do this for Olivia and lose now. Then, if you have another baby, you will already be starting at a wonderful weight and be more motivated to lose yet again afterwards. :) I just wanted to encourage you to stick with it. Being a new mom is really trying! But I'll just tell you it's nothing like dealing with being the mom of 4 (which I love so much, but just being honest here). You can do it!

Dont be ashamed!

You have a beautiful little girl, and taking the pregnancy weight off, will take a little time - but you will get there! =)

I understand feeling disappointed but gaining weight during pregnancy should not be one of those times. If you have goals you want to get to, fine. It's understandable but do not judge yourself or feel down for how much you gained while creating a life. You can do this Jen!

I struggle with weight.... Every day is hard, every day is a chance to die to self. I have prayed for you and I think you are absolutley beautiful. If we all could just see eachother thru someone else's eyes.... I wish so much I could understand and see myself thru the eye's of Christ!
Stay encouraged. Having a child is a gift from the Lord- I am happy for you. I will pray as often as I think for you and your weight loss goals. Thank you for your blog- its an encouragement to many.

Don't worry! I did weight watchers after my first baby 2 years ago. Hit my goal almost a year ago. Now I am 20 weeks with my 2nd. Trying to keep the weight gain low but I know I can lose again! You can too!
