Unexpected Blessings

This evening I am here to testify to the goodness of God in our lives!! He is truly our provider and we are extremely humbled by all the blessings we have received from Him.

Before I get to the good part, let me back up a bit. A few days ago I wrote a blog post called, Learning to Trust Again. In this post I got personal about our financial situation and asked you to pray for us. I explained that Jon and I have to pay off over $160,000 in school loans before we can ever go on the mission field.

For months we have been praying and asking God for wisdom about what He wants us to do so that this debt can be paid off. Jon's loan repayments begin this month and the private loans payments alone are about $1,200 a month. We do not have extra money to make these payments and have been believing that God would provide for us. We thought that God's provision might have been extra work, new jobs, gifts, or an option for loan consolidation.

It has been hard to trust God in this area, because Jon and I would like to be able to take care of it ourselves. However, this weekend God showed us that He is faithful!!

In the last two days God has provided $1,000 for us! I am not kidding!

Part of the money we got this afternoon, after we came home from church. We came home to a card stuck in our door. The card was signed "A friend in Christ", with a $500 gift inside! Talk about unexpected. I doubt we will know who gave us this money this side of Heaven, but thank you. God is using it in our lives in amazing ways and we are so grateful.

I know it does not seem like much compared to the total amount that we have to pay off, but has meant everything to us. It gave us a renewed confidence in God and confirmed that right now we are where He wants us to be.

Thank you for your prayers and please keep them coming.

Wow! That's incredible! Thanks so much for sharing, truly, nothing is impossible with God!

Have you by any chance looked into the book "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey? My husband and I are tackling our college debt using his method, and so far it's been working really well. It helps a lot to have a plan and some Christian motivation. We still have a long way to go, but reading that book has really helped.
