Blessed with Clothes

Two posts in one day is a little much I know, unless you have a really awesome God who provided a bunch of clothes for you for free. Do I have your attention now? Do you want to know more?

Ever since I knew we were going to China, I started praying that God would provide clothes for me. As a result of our financial situation we do not have a lot of money to spend on clothes. Last year, God provided a bunch of clothes for me for free through a clothing exchange. So, I have seen Him work before and decided to pray.

This afternoon my friend Becky called to let me know that her family was having a big garage sale tomorrow. Becky told me that her sister had brought a bunch of clothes and that she about my same size. Becky went on to tell me that I could have first dibs on the clothes if I came to look at them tonight.

Jon was at work and had the car, so Becky volunteered to come and get me to take me back to this sale. I kept thinking that I didn't have any cash on me, but maybe they will let me put my stuff aside and pay for it later. I knew we could figure something out.

Becky picked me up from work, took me to her family's house, dug through piles of clothes with me, and acted as my fashion consultant. When it was all said and done, I was told that I could take my gigantic bag of clothes home for FREE.

In total I came home with 2 skirts, 2 belts, 2 pairs of socks, 5 hats, 3 scarves, 1 pair of long johns, 2 pairs of pants, 2 dresses, 8 long sleeved shirts, 2 camis, 2 short sleeved shirts, and 1 jacket.

Oh and did I mention they are really cute clothes!?

I am so thankful to the Lord for answering my prayers. Why am I always surprised when He provides for me in such amazing ways? I need to work on my faith a little bit more.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:25-34

That is awesome!!!! If you have enough for two posts a day, I say go for it. I barely have enough (and sometimes I don't) for one post a week.
That is really neat how God chose to bless you this way. What an encouragement.

God is so good. Just a few weeks ago I made the big mistake of going to a 31 party which just happens to have the best purses and bags. Anyway I ended up ordering a beautiful purse and bag that cost me $50. Well, all the way home I cried because God was convicting me big time. The truth is my last purse was bought 3 years ago and cost about $15. Big spending is not a part of our family vocabulary. We barely pay our bills.Of course immediately upon getting home I called and canceled the order. Flash forward one week... A friend calls and ask me to come over because she has somehting for me. That something just happened to be a $200 Coach purse that had been used once. Then 2 days later another friend who I had led a bible study with gave me a 31 bag engraved with our last name as a gift. The best part of this was that neither one of these people knew anything about the party or the purse I had given up, but God did. Honestly God probably didnt care whether I had a purse, but he did want me to know that he loved me and he was watching out for me. Of course Im a simple girl so he could have skipped the Coach bag, but who's complaining. lol Praise God for his tender care.

Isn't awesome how our God knows just what we need? And how someone else listened to His urging in order to provide an answer to your prayer?
LOVE the clothes...

MrsMarkDave - Thank you! Sometimes I feel silly posting twice, but I had to share about this gift with you all.

Stephanie - We DO have an amazing God! That's a great idea. I will do that and post them soon.

Sarah Lynn - I am so thankful for God's provision!

Nicole - Thank you for sharing that story with me. You are right, God probably doesn't care about the purse or my cute clothes, but He knew that it would show us His great love for us! That is so encouraging!

Allison - It is awesome to see God us others around me to answer my prayers. I just need to make sure that I am a woman who is sensitive to God's leading too.
