WOW God Wednesday: Before the Throne

source

After Monday and Tuesday's blog post, I decided that this week at Living a Changed Life we are going to focus on encouragement!!

Thank you to everyone who has commented on these blog posts and shared with me about your own personal weight loss journey. It is comforting to know that I am not the only one who is struggling right now. Many of you have challenging circumstances that are threatening your weight loss efforts. Don't lose heart!

That is a picture of the Bible passage I read this morning during my quiet time. This was also the same passage that my pastor preached on this past Sunday. Just in case you cannot read the scripture in the picture I typed it out below.

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." - Hebrews 4:14-16

Did you read what these verses say? Okay, let’s break it down.

This passage begins by talking about how Jesus is our high priest, which means that we have an invitation to enter God’s presence.

It goes on to say that Jesus is a high priest who is able to empathize with our weaknesses, because He was tempted in every way yet did not sin. Jesus knows what it is like to be human. He knows what it is like to live in a fallen and broken world. He knows what it is like to be tempted by Satan in every way. But Jesus never sinned.

Finally, verse 16 encourages us to confidently approach God’s throne, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need. Did you hear that!? With Jesus as our high priest everything changes!! Now we are invited to come before God to share our concerns and struggles that we may receive His mercy and grace.

Wow!!

Friends, have you approached the throne of God recently or are you trying to do everything in your own strength? I know that for myself, I have been doing everything on my own. After reading this passage I asked God to forgive me for thinking that I could do this alone.

If you are like me, take some time to go before God with your struggles. Ask God for forgiveness it there are areas of sin in your life. Tell God about your struggles with life and weight loss. Share your weakness with God, so that His power can be made perfect in your weakness! Rely on Him to be your source of strength!
